Meet Your Midwife & Services
Serving Lynchburg-area families with heart, skill, and evidence-based care.

Savannah Lam
Savannah fell in love with birth after witnessing the home birth of her brother at age eight. She attended the Virginia School of Traditional Midwifery in 2010 and worked alongside home birth midwives in the Lynchburg area for five years before completing her training at a birth center in Harrisonburg, VA in 2018. Since then she has served the families of the Lynchburg area, and she is passionate about increasing access to midwifery care for all women.
Savannah is certified by the North American Registry of Midwives and licensed by the state of Virginia. She practices according to the Midwives Model of Care of the Midwives Alliance of North America.
“Birth is emotional because birth is hormonal, so your whole-person experience of birth has a physiologic impact on your birth outcome.”

Our Services
From your first prenatal visit to your last postpartum check-in, here’s what care with us looks like, step by step.

01
Prenatal Care
Prenatal visits usually begin at 10–12 weeks in one of our homey offices at Trillium House. Already past 10–12 weeks? We’d still love to talk — transferring to our care from another provider is easy. We generally follow the standard prenatal schedule:
→Monthly from 10–28 weeks
→Every two weeks from 28–36 weeks
→Weekly from 36 weeks until birth
Routine labwork is offered in-house. Ultrasounds can be in-house or through another provider, depending on your preference and insurance.
Throughout your care, you’ll have direct access to me by portal messaging or phone whenever you have a question.
02
Home or Birth Center
Families in our care choose between birthing at home or in a Trillium House birth suite. Some decide after starting prenatal care, or change plans along the way. When you go into labor, our team of 2–3 comes to your home or meets you at Trillium House. Our routine and emergency tools come with us either way. After you deliver, we monitor you and Baby for 3–4 hours, until you’re stable and ready to rest in your own bed.

03
Postpartum & Baby Care
Postpartum and well-baby care starts in your home 24–48 hours after birth. We’re licensed to provide newborn care for the first six weeks, including routine newborn screening, and we offer 3–4 combined postpartum and well-baby visits until 6 weeks after birth.
04
Prenatal Care for Planned Hospital Births
For families who wish to birth in the hospital, we offer the same comprehensive prenatal care and facilitate transfer to a trusted hospital provider, either a few weeks before your due date or in early labor, depending on your preference. These families can also return to our care after hospital discharge for postpartum and well-baby care until 6 weeks after birth.
